2010 Clinic – January 18, 2010

Dr. David Neighbors assisitant baseball coach, Trenton (Wesclin) Jr. High and Sr. High. Dr. Neighbors is the Director of Sports Medicine and Wellness for Athlete’s Advantage Sports Medicine in Breese, IL. He is the team doctor for the high schools in Clinton county Illinois. He served for a number of years as the team doctor for Greenville College. He is Board Certified in Sports Medicine and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Dr. Neighbors belongs to the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Additionally, he has served as an assistant baseball coach for 14 years at Wesclin at both the Jr. and Sr. High schools. He played college baseball at Eastern Illinois University.

ronpolk_UABRon Polk, assistant coach, University of Alabama at Brimingham. He is the former head coach at Mississippi State, Georgia and Georgia Southern. Polk went to the College World Series with each of those schools. He has a career record on 1373- 700-2 (.662) and has been named national coach of the year three times. His teams have made 8 trips to the College World Series. Seven times he served as a coach for the USA National baseball team. He is a member of the ABCA Hall of Fame and the college baseball Hall of Fame.

derek_johnson-vanderbiltDerek Johnson, associate head coach/pitching coach, Vanderbilt University. Johnson has made stops at Vandy, Stetson, Southern Illinois and Eastern Illinois. In 2004 he was named the Collegiate Baseball pitching coach of the year. Under his watch 18 pitchers have been drafted over the last 8 seasons, including 3 int he first round. His Commodore staff has led the SEC in ERA 4 of the last 6 seasons.

Jason SelkJason Selk, Director of mental training, St. Louis Cardinals. Selk is the author of “10-minute Toughness” and regular contributor to ABC, CBS, ESPN, and NBC radio and TV. He has worked with the NCAA, St. Louis Rams, U of I, Mizzou and SLU, in addition to his current role with the Cardinals.

Joel HawkinsJoel Hawkins, head coach Highland High School. Hawkins has coached 19 seasons compiling a 401-203 record during that time. The Bulldogs have won eight MC titles, seven regionals and two sectionals under his leadership. His 2008 team won the IHSA Class 3A State Championship. Individually three Bulldogs have been drafted during this time.
